Château Latour

Château Latour

You can find Château Latour vintage red wines at Arden Fine Wines in London.

Alexandre de Ségur acquired Latour as a result of successive marriages and inheritances.

In 1714, a barrel of Latour commanded a price 4-5 times higher than a barrel of typical Bordeaux wine.

By 1729, the ratio rose to thirteen and by 1767 to twenty.

This flourishing trade gradually led the estate to specialise in wine production, with 38 hectares of vines in 1759 and 47 hectares by 1794.

The producers make Latour exclusively from “vieilles vignes” (old vines) with an average age of 60 years in the “Enclos”.

The heart of the Enclos is the only vineyard that, every year, produces the depth, elegance and concentration that we expect from Château Latour.

These wines need time – often a decade – before they become ready for drinking.

Latour also earned a reputation for producing fine wines even in difficult years.
