Château Latour

Alexandre de Ségur acquired Château Latour as a result of successive marriages and inheritances.

In 1714, a barrel of Château Latour commanded a price 4-5 times higher than a barrel of typical Bordeaux wine.

By 1729, the ratio rose to thirteen and by 1767 to twenty.

This flourishing trade gradually led the estate to specialise in wine production.

The producers make Château Latour exclusively from “vieilles vignes” (old vines) with an average age of 60 years in the “Enclos”.

The heart of the Enclos is the only vineyard that, every year, produces the depth, elegance and concentration that we expect from Château Latour.

These wines need time – often a decade – before they become ready for drinking.

Château Latour has also earned a reputation for producing fine wines even in difficult years.
