Gaucelme de Castillon received an authorisation from Lord Pons to build a fortified tower in the parish of Saint Maubert.

The Mullet family held the estate until the late 17th century.

While the leasing system gradually gave way to direct use of the land, the winemaking situation changed very little.

Alexandre de Ségur acquired Château Latour as a result of successive marriages and inheritances.

In 1714, a barrel of Château Latour commanded a price 4-5 times higher than a barrel of typical Bordeaux wine.

By 1729, the ratio rose to thirteen and by 1767 to twenty.

This flourishing trade gradually led the estate to specialise in wine production, with 38 hectares of vines in 1759 and 47 hectares by 1794.

The producers make Château Latour exclusively from “vieilles vignes” (old vines) with an average age of 60 years in the “Enclos”.

The heart of the Enclos is the only vineyard that, every year, produces the depth, elegance and concentration that we expect from Château Latour.

These wines need time – often a decade – before they become ready for drinking.

Château Latour also earned a reputation for producing fine wines even in difficult years.

The Château Latour 1905 presents a rare and historic red wine from the Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux, France.

Initially, wine producers considered the 1905 vintage of average quality at the time of harvest.

However, well-preserved bottles still deliver a thrilling and elegant wine experience.

Moreover, you can expect classic Bordeaux aromas of red currant, cedar, tobacco, mushroom, graphite, and floral perfume.

In addition, the palate offers a light yet elegant and nicely balanced experience.

Furthermore, this wine serves as a prime example of Latour’s exceptional longevity, demonstrating remarkable freshness and balance decades after bottling.

Ultimately, you can find this Château Latour 1905 at Arden Fine Wines in London.
