Château Latour is made exclusively from “vieilles vignes” (old vines) with an average of 60 years-old in the “Enclos”, which contains the Gravettes, Sarmentier, and Pièce de Château vineyards.
The heart of the Enclos is the only terroir that, every year, can produce the depth, elegance and concentration that we expect of Château Latour.
It is here that the Cabernet Sauvignon (accounting for more than 90% of the blend) can achieve optimal expression in terms of colour, richness and freshness.

The 1982 Château Latour is a legendary and highly acclaimed Premier Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux wine from the Pauillac appellation.
It has consistently received perfect 100-point scores from major critics like Robert Parker and Neal Martin.
It is celebrated for its incredible richness, power, complexity, and exceptional longevity, often described as a “masterpiece” of the vintage.
- A mild winter caused a relatively early budbreak, between 25 March and 1 April.
- A particularly sunny, dry April allowed the vines to grow quickly.
- Hail at the beginning of May impacted some vineyards.
- Warm and stormy weather in May and June encouraged further rapid growth and a good flowering period in the early days of June.
- Hot July weather, with some rain, accelerated the grapes’ development.
- Cool August brought well-dispersed periods of rain.
- Hot and dry September prolonged the ripening of the grapes to bring them to extraordinary levels of richness in sugar (over 13°C for the Merlot, 12 to 12.5°C for the Cabernets).
- The harvesters collected the grapes from 16-30 September.
