- Autumn and winter were generally mild and repeated showers gave way to a cool, wet spring.
- From June, mild, dry weather allowed !owering to proceed in a favourable climate.
- July saw some stormy periods, but also sunny days without excessive heat.
- August was dry with occasional violent storms.
- September contributed as much as August to the success of this vintage.
- The harvest began on 1 October, with the Merlot and Petit Verdot, and ended on 13 October with the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Château Latour 2001 is classic, distinguished, and dominated by a balance of great purity.
It will maintain a solid place in the succession of great vintages of recent years.
