Château Latour 2005 for sale
The 2005 vintage will undoubtedly be remembered for the pronounced lack of water that accompanied the whole production cycle up to the harvest and the exceptional weather conditions throughout the growing season, from budbreak to the harvest.
The year was historically dry, which normally leads to the vines exhibiting acute symptoms of stress and halts in the ripening process, but in 2005 the vines resisted this adversity.
With generally hot, sunny weather, the exceptional conditions took form in the 2005 vintage.
Without doubt, this contributed greatly to the birth of an exceptional vintage.
The gentle winds that persisted until the harvest resulted in a massive concentration of the juices in the grapes by evaporation.
The harvest team completed the harvest between 26 September and 6 October.
The 2005 Chateau Latour vintage demonstrates the superiority of the Cabernet Sauvignon that brings body, power, fruit and structure.
We note at this stage the dominance of very ripe fruit in this wine of great complexity and can fully perceive its enormous power.
It is filled out with sleek, silky tannins.

A brief history of Château Latour
The oldest document that mentions Château Latour dates from 1331.
Lord Pons granted an authorisation to Gaucelme de Castillon to build a fortified tower in the parish of Saint Maubert.
As a result of successive marriages and inheritances, Alexandre de Ségur became the owner of Château Latour.
In 1714, a barrel of Château Latour commanded a worth of 4-5 times more than a barrel of typical Bordeaux wine.
By 1729, the ratio increased to thirteen and by 1767 to twenty.
Château Latour exclusively produces wine from “vieilles vignes” (old vines) with an average age of 60 years in the Enclos vineyard.
The heart of the Enclos produces the depth, elegance, and concentration we expect of Château Latour every year.
Here, the winemakers achieve optimal expression of the Cabernet Sauvignon (accounting for more than 90% of the blend) in terms of colour, richness, and freshness.
These wines require time – often a decade – before they become ready for drinking.
Château Latour also earns renown for its ability to produce fine wines even in difficult years.
