Chateau Musar 1993

1993 Chateau Musar is in the Bordeaux/Cabernet style, very supple and well balanced.

It has a mature, pallid red-ruby hue with a distinctive pink, brick-coloured rim and natural sediment.

Complex layers of rich berry fruits; mulberries, blackberries and redcurrants.

There are also soft ripe fruits such as cherries and damsons with the characteristic Musar spiciness and cedar notes.

Good acidity and long fine length – certainly a pleasure to drink, as winemaker Serge Hochar predicted in September 1993!

Natural yeast fermentation in concrete tanks.

The component parts were racked into French Nevers oak barrels for 12 months ageing.

Blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered in 1996.

Bottles were rested in the cellars for 4 years before release in 2000.

It has 13.5% Alc./Vol.

Our expert tip:

Decanting of this 1993 wine is essential.

Due to its age, the wine has thrown a heavy sediment and requires careful decanting at least 60 minutes before serving to open up its perfume.

Also, older bottles often show signs of age, such as slightly damaged capsules and/or scuffed or damp-stained labels.

This is perfectly normal and does not mean that the wine is faulty or damaged, or that the bottle is a counterfeit or fake.

Overall, buying from a reputable specialist merchant like Arden Fine Wines guarantees the best quality.
