Chateau Musar wine 2001 at Arden Fine Wines
This vintage is marked by the domination of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Carignan over the Cinsault.
The wine was fermented in cement vats, aged in French Nevers oak barrels for one year and then bottled in the summer of 2004.

It has a pale red brick or scarlet with terracotta tones at the rim.
The nose is highly complex, with aromas of cigar box spice, warm leather, cedar, tobacco, and dried herbs, complemented by ripe morello cherries and figs.
On the palate, there are intense flavours of red cherries, dark chocolate, olives, and exotic spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.
Overall, it is a red wine of finesse and vibrancy supported by velvet-smooth, powdery tannins and a very long, slightly austere finish.
How best to enjoy Chateau Musar
Chateau Musar reds, bottled unfined and unfiltered, suit vegans.
Moreover, they also possess a richly-textured quality and are likely “throw a crust” and leave sediment in the bottle.
In fact, most fine wines commonly exhibit this feature, and Musar Red vintages over a decade old especially show it.
Ideally, therefore, you should stand the bottles up the night before opening to allow the sediment to settle.
After that, you should carefully decant and then discard the sediment, usually in the last centimetre of the bottle.
Subsequently, you should allow the wine to breathe for an hour.
Finally, serve it best at 18°C with roasts, grills (especially lamb), casseroles, game, and mature cheeses.
