Château Latour exclusively uses “vieilles vignes” (old vines) with an average of 60 years-old in the “Enclos”, which contains the Gravettes, Sarmentier, and Pièce de Château vineyards.

The heart of the Enclos is the only terroir that, every year, produces the depth, elegance and concentration that we expect of Château Latour.

Here, the Cabernet Sauvignon (accounting for more than 90% of the blend) achieves optimal expression in terms of colour, richness and freshness.

1989 red wine for sale – Château Latour 1989

The 1989 Château Latour is a highly-regarded, full-bodied Pauillac red wine known for its richness, power, and excellent ageing potential, now reaching full maturity.

The 1989 Bordeaux vintage was particularly warm and dry, leading to a very early harvest and wines that were opulent and concentrated even in their youth.

  • 1989 marked the earliest year for growth since 1893.
  • On 29 May, the vines bloomed in full.
  • The superb, dry summer accelerated ripening.
  • Farmers carried out green harvests in early July, removing about 50% of bunches from young vines.
  • The vintage’s early ripening took the whole region by surprise.
  • Latour began the harvest on 31 August, continuing until 21 September.

Latour 1989 presents dense, wild, roasted aromas that are quite exotic for Latour.

The 1989 Latour exhibited opulence in its youth but has remained rich, powerful, and very concentrated.

Full-bodied and ample, it boasts rich, spicy fruit flavours of cassis and leather balanced by firm, well-integrated, and velvety tannins.

Latour 1989 came first in a tasting held by Liquid Asset:

“It is also worth noting that the overall winner (Latour 1989) was the lowest Parker-rated wine…”

Finally, Arden Fine Wines offers this 1989 red wine for sale – Château Latour 1989.
