La Tâche is a Grand Cru vineyard for Pinot Noir red wine in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy.
The commune of Vosne-Romanée hosts La Tâche, which is a monopole of the winery Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is a co-owned family estate with vineyards in Vosne-Romanée.
The Marey family bought La Tâche in 1791, who were also vineyard owners in Romanée-Saint-Vivant.
Following the French Revolution, the state sequestered La Tâche in 1793.
When Dr. Jules Lavalle published his classification of the Burgundy vineyards in 1855, he placed La Tâche in the highest category.
Until 1932, the owners could sell the neighbouring vineyard of Les Gaudichots either under its own name or as La Tâche.
Also in 1932, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, which owned vines in Les Gaudichots, applied to merge it into La Tâche.
Liger-Belair opposed this, as he owned the smaller La Tâche.
However, Liger-Belair lost, and most of Les Gaudichots absorbed into La Tâche.
Eventually, auctioneers sold Liger-Belair’s vineyards in 1933, including his La Tâche holding, and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti acquired it.

Although 1982 was a high-yielding year in Burgundy that produced lighter, faster-maturing reds, well-stored bottles of this great Pinot Noir still offer enjoyment.
It displays noticeable “bricking” or browning at the edge of its garnet colour.
The aromas show subtle notes of dried red cherry, rose petals, lavender, cardamom, and “sous bois” (forest floor).
On the palate, it is velvety and silky with elegant, though somewhat fading, tannins.
Overall, it is medium-bodied and relatively lightweight for this vineyard.
It pairs well with duck, goose, and game birds.
DRC produced 32,224 bottles of La Tâche 1982.
