60-year old wine gift for sale – Offley Boa Vista Vintage Port 1966
The Offley Boa Vista 1966 Vintage Port is a well-regarded wine from an excellent vintage, praised for its quality and longevity.
Offley was founded in 1737 in London by William Offley.
Joseph Forrester significantly expanded its presence in the 19th century.
The current owner is Sogrape, Portugal’s leading wine company.
Offley Boa Vista refers to Vintage Port from the historic Offley Port house, specifically from its renowned single vineyard, Quinta Boa Vista (Beautiful View Vineyard) in the Douro Valley, Portugal, known for producing high-quality, complex ports with significant ageing potential.
This lovely 60-year old wine has a garnet colour, showing some bricking on the rim, yet still appearing youthful.
The aromas show complex layers of cocoa and spice, crème caramel, Christmas raisin, butterscotch, vanilla, orange zest, and burned sugar.
It has good balance and a velvety mouthfeel.
It is a full-bodied wine with very fine, silky tannins that run seamlessly to a long, polished finish.
As a mature Vintage Port, you should decant it to remove the natural sediment before serving.
Moreover, you should ideally serve it slightly below room temperature, and it pairs well with mature cheeses, roasted nuts, or dark chocolate.
Finally, you can purchase this 60-year-old wine gift at Arden Fine Wines in London.
