1966 vintage wine for sale – Château Angélus 1966
The 1966 Château Angélus is a fully mature, rare vintage of the prestigious Right Bank estate in Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux.
It represents an elegant, old-school style of Bordeaux before the estate underwent major modernisation in the 1980s.
At 60-years old, the colour is now a brick red to light tawny colour.
The nose has aromas of forest floor, dried tobacco, dried leaves, and smoky, earthy nuances.
On the palate, it is highly complex but delicate, with tastes of chocolate, gingerbread, caramel, and pepper.
The tannins have completely mellowed, resulting in a smooth, melt-in-the-mouth feel with vivid acidity.
In 1966, the earlier generations of the Boüard de Laforest family managed the property.
This 1966 vintage wine for sale predates the modern era of Hubert de Boüard, who took over in 1985.

Château Angélus
Château Angélus (formerly written as Château L’Angélus, as on the label of this 1966) ranks as one of the most famous, prestigious, and highly-collected wine estates in the Saint-Émilion appellation on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France.
The iconic golden bell on its label makes the estate known worldwide, and it produces bold, complex, and intensely concentrated wines that rank among the global elite.
Vineyard workers named the estate “Angélus” because they could simultaneously hear the daily Angelus prayer bells echoing from three local village churches.
The de Boüard de Laforest family has owned and managed the estate since 1782, spanning eight generations.
Hubert de Boüard took over in 1988, modernising the viticulture and changing the name from “L’Angélus” to “Angélus” so that it would appear first alphabetically.
Today, his daughter Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal runs the property as CEO.
