Château Latour exclusively uses “vieilles vignes” (old vines).

These vines have an average of 60 years-old in the “Enclos”, which contains the Gravettes, Sarmentier, and Pièce de Château vineyards.

The heart of the Enclos is the only terroir that, every year, produces the concentration that we expect of Château Latour.

Here, the Cabernet Sauvignon (accounting for more than 90% of the blend) achieves optimal expression.

  • On 25 March, the buds broke, followed by a very mild early spring that led to rapid growth of the buds.
  • But on the night of 20 to 21 April, a terrible frost hit the entire Bordeaux region.
  • Château Latour recorded losses of almost 20% in the “Enclos” vineyard.
  • Fortunately, the summer excelled.
  • From 22 July to 14 August, workers removed late-maturing bunches or those with an irregular grape size.
  • The harvesters started on 24 September, but rain interrupted them from 26th–29th.
  • They finished in October, before the rain returned.
  • This vintage of Château Latour was unquestionably saved by its proximity to the Gironde river, which limited the effects of the frost.
  • The harvesters produced a healthy and ripe harvest.

The 1991 Château Latour is, indeed, a well-regarded wine from a challenging vintage.

Furthermore, critics consider it one of the best wines of 1991 in Bordeaux due to strict selection and the unique advantages of its vineyard location.

Consequently, the estate produced a concentrated and long-lived wine.

Moreover, Château Latour 1991 offers aromas of dried fruit, leather, and tobacco.

In the mouth, it delivers good concentration and, notably, lots of personality.

Additionally, the tannins remain firm without being harsh.

Finally, Arden Fine Wines sells this 1991 red wine – Château Latour 1991.
