Winemakers produce DRC Richebourg from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Richebourg Grand Cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanée.
Wine enthusiasts widely regard this wine as one of Burgundy’s most legendary and collectible.
Moreover, it showcases depth, power, and elegance, along with notable aging potential.
The wine showcases an intense and deep colour, ranging from a velvety ruby to a darker, purplish-black, depending on the vintage and age.
The typical aromatic profiles feature notes of black fruits like black cherry, blackcurrant, and blackberry, along with spices, violet, and leather.
As the wine ages, older vintages develop complex aromas of forest floor, truffle, and liquorice.
Critics often describe the palate as full-bodied and intense, highlighting its powerful structure and impressive concentration of fruit.
Despite its power, reviewers praise the wine for its immense elegance and refinement.
Ultimately, DRC Richebourg ages beautifully, and great vintages can mature for several decades.
Furthermore, the vineyard lies in Vosne-Romanée, within the prestigious Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy.
Additionally, Richebourg features rich clay-limestone soils that contribute to the wine’s depth and complexity.
Finally, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti owns the largest share of Richebourg, controlling over half the total area.
According to DRC, Richebourg exhibits some of the “silky character of its neighbor Romanée-Conti and the firmness of La Tâche.”
They characterise it as a “sumptuous wine with power and stamina.”

Young Richebourg can often be quite tight and reserved but this was quite expressive with soy, hoison and black pinot fruits and a multilayered flavor profile of good intensity, detail and exceptional length.
Very concentrated with medium sized tannins.
Score: 94.
