DRC La Tâche 1988
This vintage celebrates its powerful fruit profile and intense structural drive, produced entirely from Pinot Noir grapes grown in DRC’s exclusive 5-hectare monopole vineyard in Vosne-Romanée.
At first, it offers a classic, complex nose dominated by Asian spices, hoisin, soy, smoky oak, and sweet raspberry fruit.
Then the palate showcases a highly structured and medium-to-full-bodied experience.
It often delivers powerful, dark fruit flavors.
Moreover, it balances a very lively streak of acidity and firm tannins.
In addition, the finish is extremely long, seamless, and silky, with lingering mineral and floral notes.
This mature, savoury Grand Cru pairs exceptionally well with rich, gamier dishes that can handle its structural acidity.
Consequently, excellent pairings include oven-roasted tournedos of beef with peppercorns, roasted duck, goose, or wild game birds.
In conclusion, DRC crafted 20,137 bottles of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche 1988.
Would you like to compare this vintage to another great year for La Tâche, such as 1971 or 1978?
Are you, on the other hand, looking to purchase a bottle for a specific occasion, or are you, alternatively, researching the tasting history of this particular vintage?
Furthermore, older bottles often show signs of age, such as slightly damaged capsules and/or scuffed or damp-stained labels.
However, this is perfectly normal and does not mean that the wine is faulty or damaged, nor that the bottle is a counterfeit or fake.
Ultimately, when you buy from a reputable specialist merchant like Arden Fine Wines, you guarantee the best quality.
