DRC La Tâche 1981

The 1981 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru Monopole is a rare, mature Pinot Noir.

It comes from a challenging, frost-affected Burgundy vintage.

This year was marked by spring frost damage, followed by a mixed ripening season, making it an uneven year for the region.

At over 45 years old, it is fully mature.

The wine shows a medium garnet colour with distinct amber edges, and the fruit flavours have significantly faded into tertiary, autumnal notes.

In total, DRC crafted 11,552 bottles of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche 1981.

Because 1981 was a notoriously challenging, wet, and cool vintage across Burgundy, this wine serves primarily as an exclusive historical collector’s piece rather than an apex tasting experience.

Would you like to compare this vintage to another great year for La Tâche, such as 1971 or 1978?

Are you, on the other hand, looking to purchase a bottle for a specific occasion, or are you, alternatively, researching the tasting history of this particular vintage?

Furthermore, older bottles often show signs of age, such as slightly damaged capsules and/or scuffed or damp-stained labels.

However, this is perfectly normal and does not mean that the wine is faulty or damaged, nor that the bottle is a counterfeit or fake.

Ultimately, when you buy from a reputable specialist merchant like Arden Fine Wines, you guarantee the best quality.
