The SCEA Domaine de La Verrière named Chêne Bleu wines after the blue oak tree on the estate.

Furthermore, the Domaine has connected with wine since the Middle Ages, when it served as a grape-growing dependency of the Abbaye of Prebayon.

In addition, in 1427, Aliot de Montvin received a license to blow glass there – hence its name of La Verrière.

Moreover, La Verrière sits at 550m (almost 1600 feet) above sea level, making it one of the highest vineyards in the Vaucluse and in the South of France.

Finally, the unmistakable, jagged peaks of the limestone Dentelles dominate the rolling slopes, which face south to the Mont St-Amand and south-east to Mont Ventoux.

Chêne Bleu creates a Certified Organic wine (Ecocert).

Furthermore, Chêne Bleu avoids synthetic treatments to ensure the health of the vines and the soil.

The Chêne Bleu twin flagship reds bear the names of the most famous pair of lovers in the Middle Ages…

Abélard, the theologian and philosopher, experienced a passionate illicit romance with his brilliant disciple Héloïse, which condemned both to forced separation and tragedy.

The Chêne Bleu Grenache blend carries the name ABÉLARD to reflect its forceful, masculine, brooding intensity.

It showcases a deep, brilliant garnet colour.

On the nose, it delivers aromas of red fruits and spices with hints of mocha, cherry, and woody notes.

The palate offers a full-bodied and well-balanced experience with velvety tannins.

Then the finish presents a long and smooth sensation.

Chêne Bleu Abélard 2017 possesses an ageing potential of 10-15 years.

Enjoy it best with game meats such as venison, beef, and lamb, along with roasted vegetables.

It also pairs well with spicy dishes and ripened, salty cheeses.

We recommend decanting this wine for 1-2 hours and then serving it at room temperature or cooler.
