Located in the town of Pessac, just a few kilometres from Bordeaux, Château Haut-Brion is, in fact, the oldest wine-growing property in the region.

Specifically, Château Haut-Brion is located in the commune of Pessac, just a few miles southwest of Bordeaux’s city centre.

Moreover, it belongs to the Pessac-Léognan appellation, to the north of the Graves wine-growing region.

Interestingly, Château Haut-Brion is the only wine to be both a First Growth from the 1855 classification and a Classified Growth of the Graves.

The first vines appeared on the gravel hillsides of Haut-Brion in the first century AD.

  • In 1521, Château Haut-Brion became the first Bordeaux wine estate to be named after its terroir.
  • It was the first luxury wine brand in the world.
  • King Charles II served Château Haut-Brion at his table in the year of his coronation.
  • The English diarist Samuel Pepys noted on Friday 10th April 1663 a visit to the “Royall Oak Tavern, in Lumbard Street… and here drank a sort of French wine, called Ho Bryan, that hath a good and most particular taste that I never met with.”

Chateau Haut-Brion 1995 tasting note

The deep and constant colour of Chateau Haut-Brion 1995 impresses wine lovers.

Moreover, this vintage harmonizes beautifully.

First, you can clearly see its very soft and fine structure.

In addition, the complex aroma arises from the earth of the Graves region.

Furthermore, Chateau Haut-Brion 1995 exudes a lot of charm.

Ultimately, you can enjoy it either in the next few years or keep it in your cellar.
