The oldest document that mentions Chateau Latour dates from 1331.

Lord Pons granted an authorisation to Gaucelme de Castillon to build a fortified tower in the parish of Saint Maubert.

As a result of successive marriages and inheritances, Alexandre de Ségur became the owner of Château Latour.

In 1714, a barrel of Château Latour commanded a worth of 4-5 times more than a barrel of typical Bordeaux wine.

By 1729, the ratio increased to thirteen and by 1767 to twenty.

Château Latour exclusively produces wine from “vieilles vignes” (old vines) with an average age of 60 years in the Enclos vineyard.

The heart of the Enclos produces the depth, elegance, and concentration we expect of Château Latour every year.

Here, the winemakers achieve optimal expression of the Cabernet Sauvignon (accounting for more than 90% of the blend) in terms of colour, richness, and freshness.

These wines require time – often a decade – before they become ready for drinking.

Château Latour is also renowned for its ability to produce fine wines even in difficult years.

Budbreak occurred on 18 March, after a mild, damp winter.

Then April was very cool with a few morning frosts.

Subsequently, there was variable, cool weather in May, with a warm, wet second week.

It was a beautiful July, very hot and very dry.

However, there was a lot of rain during the first half of August, but the weather subsequently improved becoming sunny and warm.

The first three weeks of September were rainy.

finally, the harvest took place 26 September–15 October.

Fine weather during the harvest, with just a few showers.

Château Latour 1967 has a bouquet of cedar, caramel and wax.

The palate is very harmonious and rich, with good concentration.

Very well-balanced with well- integrated, ripe tannins.

Soft finish.

Latour 1967 is a pleasant surprise for this vintage.
