Challiol & Charmetant Champagne
Arden Fine Wines delights in working with our good friends and colleagues, the Singhal family, to offer their Champagne to UK customers.
Initially, the Singhals bought a vineyard in 2018.
As a result, they became the first Indian owners of a Champagne vineyard.
Additionally, the label is a Récoltant Coopérateur label:
Therefore, the grape-grower gives their harvest to a co-operative, which, in turn, makes the Champagne.
Subsequently, the grower retrieves the bottles, adds value, and labels and dresses them before selling the brand themselves.
It is a Brut non-vintage Champagne, blended from 60% Meunier, 15% Pinot Noir, and 25% Chardonnay grapes.
The dosage measures 7 grams per litre (0.7% sugar content in the wine).
After five years of ageing on the lees, the first bottling has been released.
Moreover, to ensure traceability and to guarantee quality and authenticity, each magnum bottle of Champagne Challiol & Charmetant features an etched serial number.
The label dates to 1883, when the exhibition presented it at the Calcutta International Exhibition in honour of Queen Victoria.
The label depicts “the Memsahib’s Afternoon Ride” – a British woman on an elephant back.
In addition, “Champagne Challiol & Charmetant” also appears on the label in Devanagari.
Finally, they offer it only in 1.5-litre magnum bottles, sealed with a string and wax “ancienne” closure.
The wine has a striking golden hue and offers a lush fruity character complemented by hints of spice that lead to a persistent finish.
