Romanée-Saint-Vivant is a Grand Cru vineyard for Pinot Noir red wine in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy.
This vineyard is situated within the commune of Vosne-Romanée.
It takes its name from the Abbey of Saint Vivant, which in Medieval times owned several vineyards among the Vosne-Romanée Grands Crus.
There are several different vineyard owners in Romanée-Saint-Vivant today, although Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the largest.
- In 1966, the last member of the Marey-Monge family leased the remaining 5.28 hectares to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
- Then they gave them an option to be first buyers if the vineyard would come up for sale.
- In 1988, the Neyroud family bought the vineyard, which they had inherited from Ms Marey-Monge.
- Wine from the time when Domaine de la Romanée-Conti leased it, rather than owned it, also has the name Marey-Monge on the label.
The Domaine produces only Grand Cru wines, including this Romanée-Saint-Vivant, made from their 5.28-hectare plot.
DRC Romanée-St-Vivant 1999
The 1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC) Romanée-St-Vivant Grand Cru is, indeed, a legendary, highly collectible Burgundy red wine that they made from 100% Pinot Noir.
Furthermore, it is a classic, savoury, and medium-to-full-bodied red.
As a result, it delivers intense aromas of wild strawberry, cassis, super-ripe black cherry, and violet, balanced by hints of tobacco and fine minerals.
Moreover, the 1999 vintage was an exceptional, high-yield year in the Côte de Nuits, which produced wines with brilliant structure, purity, and long-term ageing potential.
In 1999, DRC produced, specifically, 12,855 bottles of Romanée-St-Vivant.
So, are you looking to purchase a bottle for a special occasion?
Alternatively, would you like to compare this to other 1999 DRC grand crus?
Ultimately, you can buy it from award-winning Arden Fine Wines in London.
