Romanée-Saint-Vivant is a Grand Cru vineyard for Pinot Noir red wine in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy.
This vineyard is situated within the commune of Vosne-Romanée.
It takes its name from the Abbey of Saint Vivant, which in Medieval times owned several vineyards among the Vosne-Romanée Grands Crus.
There are several different vineyard owners in Romanée-Saint-Vivant today, although Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the largest.
- In 1966, the last member of the Marey-Monge family leased the remaining 5.28 hectares to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
- Then they gave them an option to be first buyers if the vineyard would come up for sale.
- In 1988, the Neyroud family bought the vineyard, which they had inherited from Ms Marey-Monge.
- Wine from the time when Domaine de la Romanée-Conti leased it, rather than owned it, also has the name Marey-Monge on the label.
The Domaine produces only Grand Cru wines, including this Romanée-Saint-Vivant, made from their 5.28-hectare plot.
DRC Romanée-St-Vivant 1992
Although 1992 was generally considered a lighter, challenging vintage across the Côte de Nuits, top-tier producers like DRC managed to create elegant, highly expressive wines that have evolved beautifully over the decades.
Recent tastings note a soft, supple texture.
It displays complex aromas of dried black cherry, brown sugar, smoky tobacco, and herbal accents, grounded by a distinctive wet earth and forest floor character.
Expect a harmonious, long finish featuring classic RSV mineral and iron notes, alongside hints of caramel and liquorice.
In 1992, DRC produced specifically, 17,718 bottles of Romanée-St-Vivant.
Because forgers frequently target DRC Romanée-St-Vivant, experts highly recommend purchasing from an established and reputable seller like Arden Fine Wines.
