It is always a pleasure to welcome my old wine trade friend James Simpson (Master of Wine) – Managing Director of Pol Roger Portfolio – to Arden’s Brook Street office.
James was the then youngest person (aged 27) to pass the Master of Wine exams and is still the third-youngest ever.
It is an even greater pleasure when he brings his “colleague” Sir Winston Churchill…
We drank the 2012 vintage of Pol Roger’s Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill, which is a superlative example of this great champagne.
Commencing with the 1975, only 19 vintages of Sir Winston have been released to date.
The 2012 has all gone, alas, but Arden retains bottles of 2006, 1999, 1998, and 1986 Sir Winston.
